KZ,

Yes, a final nail in the PC133 coffin would definitely be a RMBS catalyst.

KZ, I think you may be right. INTC may be setting the world up to see the first real side-by-side test of PC133 vs RMBS. They already know the results. PC133 loses and will not be supported by INTC.

>I've been speculating if such an announcement might leak before Aug 31. Could have a big impact on the price.

Considering the relative conservative nature of both Rambus and Intel's management, I would say you might expect less than overwhelming announcements in the coming weeks. If Intel finally announces Camino you should get a nice spike, but due to the distance away for any substantial earnings it should again slide after this news is released.

The real test IMHO is after this BIG news release...THEM BIG players like Salomon Smith Barney, Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, Paine Webber J.P. Morgan etc.. finally step up to the plate and make favorable comments about the "Wonderful World of Rambus".

If not, it might just get real ugly.

Then if that wasn't already enough you have the Y2K issue and how it just might influence the world's markets starting in OCT?? also not known as one of the market's favorite months.

I wonder how many investment books or guru's discuss the benefits of buying and holding a stock with a 300 plus P/E...

Maybe I should send Warren Buffett an E mail question on that one.

Just think, and I actually LIKE Rambus's prospects.. LOL!!

Keep a Smile
Don

That new news could be that Intel's evaluation of PC133 results in them not supporting it. I think that Intel's announcement that they will evaluate PC133 has been taken by most people as equal to supporting it. So that is "in" the stock. They may decide that they won't support it and that would be a big upper.

kz,
i agree with you all the way on this.
in fact i think if intel chooses to support pc133 the results may be little or nothing.
might even go up. here is why...

it will not be a surprise. rmbs ceo told us 6 months ago to expect a brief single iteration life span for ddr. the surprise will be as you said if it does not happen.

there are presently 5,140,000 shares sold short. they have to cover eventually. this eliminates a huge amount of downside risk. they may be waiting for this announcement to cover..in which case the stampede could easily cause the price to go up.

there is a lot happening right now. siggraph this week. more announcements are likely on top of today's three.
next week is the hotchips conference at stanford. we may hear from sunw there. may also see a k7 with rdram demo.
following that we have the idf in palm springs. aug 31
sep 14-16 networld and interop
sep 17 sony intros pII at the tokyo games show.
sep 28 comdex in miami.
sometime in sept camino gets released.
oct 4 microprocessor forum in san jose.
oct 5-7 comdex in quebec.
nov 15-19 comdex in las vegas.
sometime in here coppermine gets released...at the same time i expect to see rambus in workstations, pc's and laptops and who knows what else.

i believe we will get significant rambus announcements all along the way. with product shipments ramping next month...the analysts will be reiterating their positions.
present analyst price targets for rmbs are $150-165.

and we will get surprises...don't forget surprises! intel and rambus futures are tied to a successful launch of rdram. i think the real fireworks started with three big news releases today.
rambus in graphics and rambus in servers is just more motivation for the dram guys to get going.
intel and rambus are not going to let via go unchallenged..no way.
the fun is just beginning and each new news release takes away a little more from the fudsters.
