Thread,
IMHO ATT is modifying it's broadband strategy:
[1] ATT only wants AT HOME and ROAD Runner as it's broadband pipes now until the end of their current contract ion 2003. To demonstrate that Armstrong along with all the other cable heads were at At Home less than a month ago professing to that fact.

[2] ATT likes for any and all portals including MSN, AOL, YHOO have access to the starting, front page that consumers see. They like to dominate the entire market collecting on the pipe instead of battling for content. ATT can't care less about Excite or Yahoo or AOL!
Somehow Armstrong has developed doubts on Excite ONLY front page strategy. And since TJ was behind the Excite ONLY strategy he's under fire by ATT. ATT has been giving direct and indirect hints about this content issue the last couple of weeks.

[3] ATT is apparently negotiating for 2003 and beyond with all for Broadband pipe that ATHM has exclusive rights to now. That much could be read in between their words!
