I wonder what % of "investors" lose?

LOL, great question. When I read all this yelling and screaming about daytraders losing money (which leads to negative outlook on it), I always wonder what should be said about long/mid - term investing? What, it shows great percentage of winners, therefore should be encouraged? Sure doesn't look this way from what one could see on message boards devoted to specific stocks.
At least, daytrading gives real-time risk control (another matter whether trader chooses to apply it properly). I don't believe daytraders lost money on OXHP when it crashed 46 points overnight, but investors sure did. And there are plenty of examples of this kind when nobody saw it coming.
Even if we leave aside those catastrophic crashes, slow slides probably caused even more heavy losses.
