"teamed" does not necessarily mean joint venture with long term obligations and sharing of profits. might mean nothing more than the three are marrying each other's technologies to offer an overall product/service.

What Wintner said in the article is that Hughes-JVC does not have, and never has had any ownership interest in CineComm, and that CineComm is therefore not under any obligation to use Hughes equipment in the future. He said that the Hughes-JVC projectors were chosen about three years ago, when they were the only product on the market that could do the job.
