Re: "Yes. Go to AMD's website. The only scores you may want to see are the Spec scores. (These aren't performance comparisons!) "

I did go to the AMD website and they are % comparisons. I can't find any actual numbers or actual specific system configurations including memory size, and in regards to the Athlon motherboard it says very clearly quote: "This motherboard is not commercially available at this time"

So unless I am missing something, it looks to me like AMD once again posted ambigious benchmarks from an unavailable motherboard. Please correct me if there are actual scores at the AMD sight and if they were run on an available system, just post the link please.

As for vendors, it appears that Compaq has confirmed they will offer an Athlon system however it isn't available now.

I can't find an IBM press release announcing support.

"Is the (MI?)-Athlon available today?"
Yes. shophereusa.com

Sorry Charlie... That link clearly states systems are expected to be available August 27th... Just more Vapor

We were lead to believe by the enthusists here that today was the day and systems would be available, however it looks like we are hearing the same old 2-3 weeks story we heard in June. Another stealth announcement. Announcement after announcement but no Athlon.

I will stop posting this as soon as someone can show me where an Athlon system is actually available.

MIA-thlon promised in June.... promised in August....

Still Missing in Action......

Re: "Did AMD release actual benchmarks, with real numbers and detailed system configurations?" Says Elmer

"Yes. Go to AMD's website. The only scores you may want to see are the Spec scores. (These aren't performance comparisons!) I think everything else can be modified to make one chip look better than the other." Says Cirruslvr

Wrong. "AMD Athlon processor-based system: Reference Motherboard Rev. B (This motherboard is not commercially available at this time.)" Says AMD

AMD also says they disclaim the word "plan" as a forward looking statement.

And Compaq says it "plans" to introduce something in the next 30 days.

Perhaps the Compaq plans depend on whether they can obtain commercial motherboards.
