Robert, I expected a little rationale for your point of view, somehow, "sick" did not sound to me exactly a logical argument.

Are you against "diversification" in general (which is not what I suggested), or against doing it during a down cycle (and then when on the down cycle?). You can do a lousy job like PMAT (later known as TRKN) did, or a pretty good job like AMAT has been doing for years (always picking up "cheap pieces" coming out of down turns), or as VECO has done last year.

Bob,

If you promise not to tell anyone, I could switch you to LRCX, LRCX, LRCX. ;-)

Re: Diversifying during the downturn.

1. Downturn or not, at this stage in CYMI's development, I don't believe that taking on another completely diverse business sector makes a huge amount of sense.

2. Some types of diversification may lend themselves to best being done during the downturn. AMAT for example, has used downturns to strengthen their product line.

MTSN, has used the downturn to finish development of its CVD product, place evaluation machines throughout the top 20 globally and came out of the downturn with production orders for that product.

It has added Epi through an acquisition; and completed development of an innovative RTP system.

This diversification from Strip alone has left MTSN in a much stronger position with a much better probability of having sufficient critical mass to become a major player in this sector.

So, I agree that I wouldn't want to see CYMI diversify into medical lasers; but I'm overjoyed with the diversification that MTSN did.

... and I'm not sure that those 2 views are completely consistent.

Ian.
