Routing Technology for Convergenced Networks Gets a Big
Boost

"Most high-end switch router vendors require their customers to use a proprietary
software engine for all routing features -- very restricting when it comes to adding
new applications. Enter the industry's first high-performance Linux switch
router--the OSR8040 from NBase-Xyplex. This Linux router offers an 18-slot
chassis with a 40Gbps routing fabric, frame and cell scheduling, and high-speed
ASICs for throughput of up to 26 million packets per second. Optional modules
provide a flexible selection of port density and speed with 128 10/100 Ethernet
ports, 64 OC-12 ports, or 32 1Gbps ports. The OSR8040 includes support for QoS,
security features, policy-based management, SNMP, RMON, VLANS, IP CIDR, and
clustering.

The strength, flexibility, and scalability of an open architecture gives OSR8040
users basic block functions and programmable interfaces to control functions such
as the unit's programmable Packet Flow Processors for smart networking
applications. New features can be deployed without additional hardware upgrades,
saving customers time and resources..."

Sector and/or Signist a question....

I see LU has made another big networking acquisition today. Superfcially it seems like LU and CSCO are planning to dominate the world. I realize MRVC has great technology, but are there any customers/partners left to acquire.
