No I also short now with Dreyfus as well..My husband has fidelity and just closed is Datek account but if something goes wrong its because of the quickness of the execution. I try to short only high volume stocks and I haven't been doing it that long I just basically reverse what I did when I bought, but don't' forget I don't use level II and most of my buys/sells are market orders.

I still like puts but the second tier nets either don't have puts or you can't get to them at 9:30 and have to wait. I watched 2 shorts pass me by today both HLIT and DISH if they were on their way up instead of down I would not have hesitated, but with shorts I still have a hesitating trigger finger mostly I worry about covering but I'm getting used to it.

If I analyze my shorting mistakes there were 2 kinds not holding the short a day longer and hesitating longer than I do for going long. I can see I have much to learn but I don't want to miss shorting opportunities in this market because I'm not as proficient as I'd like to be. I so wanted sell my puts in AMZN and if was a short I probably would have covered for -11/16 point.. but in this case plus the obvious diffence in capital invested a put saved the day, cause I didn't need to free the capital and that's when I buy puts, when the stocks are first tier in fast moving markets.
