Mr. Norm Thomson reports
Over two million students at 4,000 North American secondary schools will have
access to Bridges.com's on-line career information services when they return to
school this fall. New site sales of 120 in July have pushed the total number of
Career Explorer (CX Online) subscribers to 4,086 -- 11.4 per cent of the North
American secondary school market. The July new sales were spread across 20
states and two provinces.
Education International has signed a memorandum of agreement to examine the
development of various school-to-postsecondary services. Education International
provides high-quality information to students, education counsellors, academics,
and governments worldwide regarding secondary and postsecondary study
opportunities in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and other foreign
markets. Its expertise in publishing and selling to the postsecondary market in
North America compliments Bridges' selling expertise in North American
In support of Bridges.com's plan to more aggressively pursue market share, hiring
continued in July for the Bridges sales, service, and technical teams. Bolstering
technical and service staff supports maintenance of the company's high rates of
resubscription. Increasing the sales team from 10 to 18 sales representatives aids
the rapid distribution of Bridges.com resources to new schools. At the end of July,
the company employed 55 staff in Kelowna, B.C. and over 40 contracted writers
and trainers across North America.
In response to sales increases and internal growth, Bridges.com has purchased
and implemented Pivotal Corporation's company-wide customer relationship
management software. "This is a leading-edge package that will greatly enhance
our ability to meet the ever increasing information requirements of our expanding
business," says Norm Thompson, vice-president of finance and administration. "It
will streamline and integrate every element of Bridges.com's operations: sales,
subscriber administration, even our on-line publishing." The package -- Pivotal
Relationship 99 -- was named the year's best overall customer management
industry solution by Microsoft.
