Steve:
Please address the following: Fiber Channel.

First, what is fiber channel?
performancecomputing.com

What do you think of it, and what's your opinion of its leader, QLGC?

QLGC's homepage:

Brief information:
QLogic Corporation is the leading innovator in Fibre Channel, SCSI and enclosure management products for computer systems, storage subsystems and data storage peripherals. QLogic is helping to drive the growth of the Fibre Channel market and has captured over 89 Fibre Channel design wins to date. With their well-established track record of engineering excellence, QLogic now provides Fibre Channel, SCSI or manufacturers in the world. These customers include industry-leading companies such as IBM, Sun Microsystems, Inc., Fujitsu Limited, Dell Computer, Hitachi Limited and Quantum Corporation.

In 1996, the company demonstrated its engineering excellence by creating a Fibre Channel controller that incorporated 1Gbit transceivers into an award-winning ISP2100 design. This created, and remains today, the first and only true single-chip Fibre Channel I/O solution. Among the company's SCSI achievements are the development of the industry's first standard SCSI processor, the first Fast SCSI, Fast Wide SCSI and Ultra SCSI implementations.

Through the acquisition of Silicon Design Resources, Inc., QLogic was able to add the delivery of a single-chip enclosure management solution to its list of industry firsts. This technology provides the logic needed to monitor and control the environmental characteristics of storage and server enclosures.

Founded in 1985, QLogic (QLGC) began trading publicly on NASDAQ in 1994. Since that time, the company has established a consistent record of strong earnings growth and in 1997 was the second fastest-appreciating stock in Orange County, California.

I notice you mention ariba in your netstock update today (btw you misspelled it - its Ariba). So does this mean you will include the software area in your business coverage? I'm sure you know there is an overlap between software and net stocks when you get to the business side. Blodget is covering Ariba I know, but MSDW has it under Chuck Phillips.

Fwiw I don't really like Ariba LT, I think its the son of ITWO, ok, but no Siebel. Its just too hard to build a business on top of somebody else's software which is what Ariba does, it runs on top of Sap/Oracle, etc.

Any opinions on ICGE?

Thanks

Steve read Thom's column... I think you should look at TURF...Cash yes...Portal yes...Product yes...Future Yes... The recent purchase in Tap.com shows the commitment to keeping Brand loyalty beyond the High School years...At these prices I feel that this is an opportunity not unlike AMZN below $20...I know that it had a stealth move today but lets get real and give this stock the attention that it deserves!
