Web traffic from foreign domains has increased 30% since the beginning of 1999.

Foreign domain traffic is up to 44%, nearly matching the traffic from commercial (.com), networks (.net), educations (.edu), organization (.org), military (.mil), and government (.gov) domains combined.

It is important to note that AOL and other non-country-code-specific ISPs moving into global markets affects the representation of foreign domains. Thus, the total percentage of traffic from outside of the United States is actually higher than represented by the foreign domain figure alone.

The top 10 non-US domains account for nearly 72% of all foreign domain traffic. Japan leads the list and is followed by Germany, the UK, Canada, Australia, Italy, Sweden, France, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.
