Frank,

Thanks for sharing those ten commandments.

I wasn't suggesting that the world of consulting is a world of bribery and hugely unethical dealings, though any industry has that to a limited degree. Instead, I was suggesting that consulting is rarely the arm's-length recommendations as exemplified by your Commandment I.

You're right that there are some terrifically ethical people in the consulting world. Being a salesperson, I appreciate why salespeople are often thought of liars at worst and people who hedge the truth at best. I don't understand why so many salespeople are that way, because the easiest way to make sales is to be obviously telling the entire truth by treating a customer as a true partner.
