Lesson One:

A short, skinny man arrived in the Pacific Northwest and applied at a lumber camp to start work as a lumberjack.

The camp supervisor, Red, a big, burly jack with a flaming red beard, eyed the frail-looking man skeptically and asked, "What makes you think you can cut trees, Mister?"

The thin man smiled. "Actually, I'm pretty good at it."

Nodding in undisguised disbelief, Red poked a thick finger in the direction of the forest. "See that big redwood? The huge one by that stream? Cut it down. When you're finished, report back to me."

"Okey-dokey," agreed the frail-looking fellow as he swung his ax up over his shoulder and headed off toward the redwood.

Five minutes later Red heard a terrific crash followed almost immediately by a knocking at his door. He flung open the door and there stood the skinny guy waiting, all smiles. Pushing him aside, Red stomped out of the cabin and peered at the giant redwood, now fallen to the ground. "Where the hell did you learn to cut like that?" Red almost screamed in amazement.

"The Sahara forest."

"Huh?" Red asked. "You mean the Sahara Desert?

"Well, yes. That's what they call it now!"
