Did you see those pictures of day traders at rows of computer terminals, they looked like slot machines in Vegas.. then again that's what the backrooms of Merril and Goldman look like also.

A much worked over phenomena, day trading is the only thing they do in Chicago, while every major fund and investment house does it. If information can be made available honestly and quickly, there's no reason anyone and everyone can't directly buy/sell. Cream will rise, if institutions are better in the long run, they'll win the hearts and greed of investors.

James:

"daytraders" I do not doubt their stats at all and I hate losing the stake and potatoes. I seldom daytrade as I'm never fast enough to take the 1/8 or 3/16. I perfer 3 to 5 days for real short term and 10 to 30 days for the longer ones. Several friends have tried and lost most of what they started with.

Some memorable trades I can think of: BAMM bought at 3 sold at 11...went to 47..SORC bought at 8 sold at 10...went to 15. ONHN bought at 5 sold at 6...went to 24...PSIX at 6 sold at 10 went to 60's All of these were within 90 days of my sell date....obviously I'm not holding long enough!!LOL

I have rectified this problem though and plan on having a much nicer looking portfolio...

Okay I left out AOL at 50 and sold at 160 LOL Made up for some of the other stinkers.
