ATI RAGE Mobility(TM)-P Mobile Graphics Accelerator Selected by Gateway for New Solo 9300 Notebook PCs
11:00 EDT Tuesday, August 10, 1999

TORONTO, Aug. 10 /CNW-PRN/ - ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE:ATY, NASDAQ:ATYT)
announced today that Gateway has selected the ATI RAGE Mobility(TM)-P mobile
graphics accelerator for the new Solo 9300 high-performance notebook PC.
This is the first design win for RAGE Mobility with the Gateway line of
notebook PCs, and builds on ATI's initial Gateway mobile graphics design win
earlier this year. The ATI RAGE Mobility family of mobile graphics
accelerators deliver no-compromise graphics performance for mainstream
notebooks, offering industry-leading 2D, 3D, and video performance, with no
weight penalty and very low power consumption.
ATI RAGE Mobility-P is used in the new Gateway Solo PC notebooks matched
with the latest Intel(R) mobile processors, including the 366MHz and 400MHz
Pentium(R)II and Celeron(TM)366MHz.
``The RAGE Mobility is quickly becoming the graphics accelerator of choice
for leading-edge notebook manufacturers because of its highly impressive
graphics and multimedia performance, delivered with no sacrifice to battery
life or weight and space considerations,' said Bill Henry, director of mobile
component marketing, ATI Technologies Inc. ``With use of the RAGE Mobility,
end users of the new Gateway Solo notebooks can fully exploit the latest and
most sophisticated graphics and multimedia applications, no matter whether in
the office, at home, or on extended business travel.'

The RAGE Mobility family: ATI the first to bring true desktop features
and performance to the notebook platform
RAGE Mobility graphics accelerators are designed to provide mainstream
notebook computers with the 3D, 2D and multimedia performance previously
available only with high-end systems, while also delivering industry-leading
power and performance functionality, in a space-saving, highly integrated
design.
RAGE Mobility accelerators feature a unique ``single component graphics
sub-system solution' that replaces the need for over six individual chips to
provide memory and graphics functions. The single sub-system design results in
important component cost savings, and low power consumption, twinned with long
battery life for notebook computer systems.
