A colleague moved into a new house this year. He told me he is having mouse problems. He set traps and scored clean kills on three of five mice he got this year. "Mozzarella is the best bait." The fourth mouse was inadvertently trapped under a recycle bin and expired there. The fifth one was trapped - but the trap only got his hind leg and tail. Amazingly, neither got broken. Colleague was telling me how he was agonizing over the quick and clean way to dispatch this mouse - when his five-year-old daughter saw it and immediately adjudicated it cute. "Okay, so we'll call him Lucky." They drove a mile to a meadow and released Lucky. "Betcha there's one happy snake there today", colleague concluded.
