Protege: Regarding Fed action on Aug. 24th, I think the rate hike will be 1/4 rather than 1/2. Historically, 1/2 point rate hikes have been extremely rare. Also, too many other things present which are or will roil the market: weak dollar, rising 30-yr T-bill rate, Y2K; doubt Greenspan would want to do something that extreme with these other concerns present.
