3 x 15 is plenty big for tomatoes. The 40 x 40 would be ok if you grew corn, watermelons or pumpkins. This year we are having trouble giving away the excess tomatoes are neighbor is giving us and I've got a farmer who is giving us all the sweet corn we want free because I shot some of the pigeons that were fouling his barn.
