MDR put Mendocino at $55. The problem is that it's been a year since Mendocino was introduced, and surely Intel has been working on improving its yields. But MDR hasn't revised their figures at all. At Mendo's release, MDR put the cost at $55 + $10 for the daughtercard. The only revision they made was knocking off $10 when the chip moved to Socket 370.

As for Pricewatch's prices, I would bet that some of those Celerons are being sold below cost. Intel's official prices for Celeron do not go below $65.
