Hello Bruce,

Thank you sir and good to hear from you!

If you were to look back at some of my posts here you'd see that I have been posting LG's Overall Market Composite (OMC) Index as a P&F chart. It's an index of LG's design so he'd have to discuss that.

You're RS question is interesting. Give me your thoughts here Bruce. LG's OMC is his mirror of the overall market -- so what would you recommed it be compared with for a RS P&F chart?

Here's some of CHARTCRAFT/INVESTORS INTELLIGENCE market info as of today:

SENTIMENT INDEX 8/13/99 8/6/99
% of Advisors Bullish 50.00 52.20
% of Advisors Bearish 29.30 27.80
% of Advisors Correction 20.70 20.00

MOVING AVERAGES 8/10/99 8/3/99
% NYSE > 10wk MA 24.16 36.18 Bear Conf
% OPTs > 10wk MA 28.40 37.50 Bear Conf
% NYSE > 30we MA 41.97 53.00 Bull Corr

BULLISH PERCENTAGES
NYSE Bullish % 46.10 51.30 Bear Conf
OPT Stks Bullish % 42.40 49.80 Bear Conf
NYSE High Low 18.50 26.40 Bear Conf

I guess the good thing<g> is that the stocks above the 10 week ma and High Low Index are oversold (30% or lower) and a reversal up at these levels would be Bull Alerts.

The NYSE Bullish % dropped lower this week as more equity stocks on the NYSE gave P&F sell signals.

Sentiment dropped some and that's a good sign but that index has been at 50% or higher for 38 weeks.

Take care,

Eric

Hello Bruce,

I was interested in your comment that you love RS. I have read and understand the theory of RS however I have had little success in applying it to my stock selection.

I have also tried creating RS against the SPX and industry sectors however my selection process seems to rely mostly on the chart action of the stock rather than its performance relative to an index.

My problem with RS is that it seems to tell me more about what has happened rather than helping me determine what will happen in the future.

I know you have long been an advocate of RS and would be keen to hear how you apply it to your selection process.

Kind regards
David
