As I mentioned earlier, I wanted to find out just how big the market is for this company. I was able to obtain excerpts from the La Fleur's '99 World Lottery Almanac. (7th edition). On page 296 it lists the statistics I was looking for related to China.Size of the Market: - In 1998, there were approximately 1.245 billion people in the China. - The combined total of all Lottery sales in China in 1998 was a staggering $1.103 billion (US). This works out to sales which are close to $1 (US) for every man, woman, and child in China. - The Chinese Welfare Lottery represented approx. 80% of the overall sales in China. This lottery is intended to supplement efforts such as flood relief, etc. - The China Sports Lottery represented the remaining 20% of the overall sales. - Between these two Government sponsored Lotteries, Draw style lotteries represented $131.7 (US) in sales. Instant pull tabs represented $971 million in sales. If you refer back to the last Border Capital press release, they state that . . . >>On July 3rd, 1999, the Corporation signed an agreement in Beijing, China entitled China 2008 Bingo Olympics Joint Venture. The joint venture was formed to operate a televised bingo lottery game in the city of Beijing. << So, if Border Capital starts in the Beijing market, then they have a direct audience of 15 million people who live in this city. Well folks, this is one half of all the people in Canada! Nice start! I would love to find out what the financial targets and expected quotas will be. However, I believe that we will not be able to see these until the deal is finalized with the Government. As per their announcement, they expect this to occur within the next 30 days. With the four months where the company halted their trading (by their own request), I believe that they would have used this time to ensure that they have the capabilities and technology to move forward on this deal. Now, I for one am excited about the possibilities with this deal! Given the sheer size of the market, the progress they have already made, and the intended beneficiaries of the proceeds for this effort - China's Olympic bid etc. - I am very excited about what this could mean to the share value. When this comes together, on top of any revenues that Border Capital starts to receive from Dion Entertainment Corp. related to their licensing agreement, I believe that this stock will move much, much higher. How high, I'm not sure, but I am betting that it will provide a very nice return. <ggg> Crazy Canuk
