I see. So the trend is that at the end of each decade human beings tend to create "nightmare' situations for themselves.

Well I hope the Y2K bug is not one of those situations but it appears that is the most likely one to add to the list.

was a nightmare depending on which end of the wall you're on, I guess. <VBG>

So if there is a trend, it tends to be socio-economic. Right? Doesn't really give in to what it might be, since they are all apparently precipitated by unrelated events.

Is there a quantification or scale of 'nightmare-ishness' on which you can rate these trends? Like a seismic scale or something?
