Mika, why do you think that Ericy is not in the running to supply a cdmaOne network to Telecom New Zealand Limited for their new network? Nortel, Lucent and Motorola were given as the short list. Ericy is incumbent supplier for TDMA and analogue equipment.

I thought that since Ericy bought Q! infrastructure, they'd be keen to get the order. If they can't get this one, I'm bamboozled as to what they can get. Surely they aren't going to keep the cdmaOne infrastructure division on ice.

I suppose they must be keen to get some of the Australian business too. So far, not a dickey-bird.

Any ideas?

Maurice

Welcome back Mika.
The Ericsson 'picture' is looking very good and promising in the wireless side. No doubt about. Bu in the wireline side it doesn't look good.

It can improve, though: Have you noticed that the pressure is on the European carriers? It is going to get hotter on the local loop side.

This is good for Ericsson. The carrierss have not been investing in their home countries preferring to buy licenses to operate wireless and wireline networks in South Africa, Indonesia, Mexico, Hungary and Brazil, etc etc.

They did so because the home market was 'guaranteed'. Not anymore. The pressure is on. Go back to Totaltele. It is all there. UK, Germany -the even US threads to complain to the WTO gains our Deutsche Freuden- Italy and I hope France is next. Read the news with this slanting and you will see it.
Next week is my turn have to take a week off.
