Nice story levy, I think you and I had the same brokers.<g> Well I decided to go on my own after watching my retirement go nowhere in the Mutual Funds my bigname broker had them in. One day on cnbc, in early September after hearing that the market could go no lower (!) I opened up a brokerage account and put a little money in. Surfed the web for awhile, Motley Fool and basic sites and thought about buying the way Peter Lynch suggested - buy what you use.
Stuff like gap, starbucks and the internet sites that I liked.

Then one day my web surfing teenage son came into my office and said Mom - you have to check out this search engine it's awesome and you'll never need another. So I checked it out, loved it, and have truly never needed another.

And it WAS awesome and made me wonder who owned this little gem, and there at the bottom of the page was go2net. So I did one of those ticker searchers and bought my very first stock on my own. Probably why I'm so loyal to it - it was my first <g>. Bought at $18 a share last October when the market TRULY could and did not go lower. And I have been accumulating it ever since. Now I own more gnet than any other stock, and as a thank you bought 100 shares for my kid (which I'm not letting him touch!).

And what a surprise it was when I found out that gnet owned SI! I've learned so much from SI I took all my $ from my broker and said my goodbyes and have done nothing but outperformed his returns. As well as having a blast doing it!
