Israel agreed to rush arms to India Israel had agreed to speed up shipments of arms and military supplies to India during the recent crisis in Kashmir, the Israeli Ha'aretz daily reported today. The paper said the Indian government, which had placed the orders before the Kashmir crisis developed, asked Israel to accelerate the arms orders, a request to which Israel agreed. The US, which for years supported Pakistan, has recently begun improving ties with New Delhi and has removed restrictions on arms sales to India. This gave Israel the green light to sign a deal for the sale of sophisticated electronic equipment to India, the paper said. India and Israel established diplomatic relations seven years ago and their cooperation on security-related matters has grown significantly in recent years. Israeli and Indian officials regularly exchange analyses of the situation in the Middle East and Asia. According to the paper, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak has taken a special interest in developing relations with India and has held special debates on the matter.
