More competition on the desktop, high pe, and negative outlook from end users

1. Linux is 2 years away from challenging MSFT on the desktop and the MAC is overly expensive to capture a significantly larger portion of desktop seats (currently around 8%).
- Linux lacks variety of 3rd party hardware/software
- Linux: not as easy to administer
- Linux lacks corporate backing ; it's shareware
- cost to switch to a new desktop paradigm is expensive; training, data migration etc.

2. High PE
Well it is high but in this case I think the high PE represents investor confidence in future direction of this company. MSFT is aggressively moving into telco/cable to ensure future end unit seats and diversify. Also, remember we're talking about Microsoft not an internut stock.

3. Negative end user outlook ?
- don't see any signs of that ??
