It is just that Lust is on the list of the Seven Deadly Sins, along with Gluttony, Avarice, Envy, Pride, Anger, and Sloth.

And if you want to get serious about it all: "sin" is not a very popular concept right now, granted. But a negative connotation still hangs about all of the Seven Deadlies, with the exception of Anger, which has become, I would say, a "neutral" word. "Pride" is okay, too, unless it is used in the sense of "hubris," especially when qualified with an adjective like "overweening."

"Lust", in other words, implies immoderate, unseemly, and possibly aggressive sexual desire. Sex maniacs experience it. <g>
