Well, I think this issue (diversification) really depends on how CYMER's management sees itself and what its core competencies are. Does the company see itself as a laser or a semiconductor company? Also, check its Board of Director. Do most of them have semi backgrounds? If so, moving into non-semi markets constitutes diworsification as it'll move them out of their core competencies, which implies that their core market is pretty much saturated.
