<But you know, As most of the disruptions will happen outside our shores ...>

And sometimes they even happen on our shores, eh?

<This morning I heard on TV as of July, three of the major Swiss banks were not Y2K ready. One had not even started work.>

Yeah. I heard it too.

CNBC had a 5-minute segment about an hour ago on Y2K and Healthcare providers. They said 90% of hospitals were waiting for software patches because vendors hadn't provided them yet. Pretty high figure, huh?

RE GOLD: Back in January I made a post to Bill Murphy, after someone with a seat on COMEX contacted me to consult as to when Y2K panic would hit. After several phone calls, totalling about 3-4 hrs. I decided not to consult.

He told me then, that they were planning on shaking out the little guys with hard, deep pullbacks. Said, if I was in NYC, he'd take me into the pits and show me how it works.

Said they expected gold to hit $600 by Jan 2000. At least that's what he said in January.

Also said that gold would become as volatile as internet stocks.

Only gold stock I was holding then, was NEM that I purchased @17, which I planned to hold. After he told me what he told me, I decided to trade my NEM between 17-20 (which is what I've been doing.)

I haven't had any contact with him since January.

I'm ready to go long. But, am not sure if they have something up there sleeve and are going to attempt another fast, deep pull-back before the run-up. So, I sold some of my NEM today, just in case. Aaaargh - Didn't want to do that. Maybe I'll regret it. Remainder, of what I have - I got @16-1/4. So, if it runs I cheer. If it pulls back, I'm not squeamish.

I was going to post a link to my original January post, but since SI has forced us to use this d*mn beta site - I can't find it.

Make sure you read that link I posted above. Check out my comments at that link.

Late today I started to establish short positions in selected internet stocks. To limit risk - only those with upcoming lockout expirations.

Good luck.
