I got in for a nibble at 42 1/4, after about seven minutes of trading. I'm really annoyed at myself for not opening an account at Etrade. I would probably have missed it anyway, since I skipped reading Slashdot the one day the expressions of interest were accepted (Wednesday, I think).

Did anyone get shares pre-IPO through Etrade without being on a friends and family (and open source developer) list? I'm very curious.

Cheers all Hatters!

I was one of the lucky ones that received an invitation for pre-IPO shares from RedHat. I considered it carefully for a week, then decided that it would be prudent to pass on the offer. The offering price seemed a little high to me, and the landscape very competitive.

Now, with hindsight, I can honestly say... D'oh!!
