Gold used in coinage and jewelry is alloyed with other metals to give it the necessary hardness. Even coinage gold is 90 parts gold to 10 parts silver.

What kind of jewelry are they making with pure? Would think it would be pretty darn soft to wear.

Haim,

Just me curious...what is the consumption of gold like in the Middle East? I would imagine that gold producing nations are going to be feeling the turbo-boost of the oil price in their nations' economies, and that's got to drive demand for the goods they like.

Question is - are they significant consumers?
