Question - isn't @HOME's backbone actually connected via AT&T's backbone? Yes. ATHM signed a long term lease for backbone capacity from T. The nice thing about the deal is that it gives ATHM equal scale to T. Believe it or not, it's true. ATHM leased 'color' from T. The fact that they own the 'color' gives them the ability to mulitplex that fiber with hardware. I might be a little off here but I believe the technical ability to do so is DWM - dense wavelength multiplexing....it should be on the @Home backbone whitepaper on their website.
