The IP Revolution: Two "scarey" cents........
NDS's technology "goes high" - i.e. it is designed to map into the forces of the PURE Internet model, the energy within which will DEMAND, seek and secure control and flexibility for INDIVIDUALS. I am a BIG NDS fan for this ONE reason.
This may sound "scarey" to people who have read my write/rantings, but I firmly believe this is where the Internet is heading: ALL power and control is shifting to INDIVIDUALS.
Now why is this "scarey" to people?
I think it's scarey because every individual has a responsibility and right to claim this power and control, but the vast majority of people in the world would prefer that others have it: companies, government, religion, whatever.
The scaryness in all this is that we have a hard time thinking, believing that there's a moral plane or Universal Law that actually exists which can guide us all from day to day.
Most people deny their energy, their core morality, preferring to place it "somewhere else" - for religion, government, schools, the courts to decide and arbitrate.
This refusal to claim what is ours is why power gets collected elsewhere in the world: in government, religion, etc. etc.
I'll use the analogy of water and a dam:
Water = energy (energy in the form of our time, trust, money, etc.)
Dam = something which stores energy (in the form of our time, trust, money, etc.)
As FREE individuals our "water" - our "energy" - can flow anywhere, be stored anywhere.
It's really up to use where we place our "water".
- If we decide we are not responsible for our neighborhood's crime, then we place our "water" behind a rationally logical dam which says "it's not my problem, let the police take care of that.
- If we decide we are not responsible for what goes on in our schools, then we place our "water" - our energy (time, trust, money, etc.) behind a rational dam that may say "let the school board deal with that."
- If we decide that we are not responsible for violence on TV, then we place our "water" - our energy (time, trust, money, etc.) behind a rational dam that may say "let someone else (???) figure that one out."
- If we decide we don't have time to really get into finding out more about the Day Care facility our kids may attend from day to day, we can always place our "water" - our energy (time, trust, money, etc.) behind a rational dam that says "I've picked that center, but I have no real control over what goes on, etc."
This process is a natural part of life, for we all have a very limited amount of time to research these things alone. The world has convinced us that "we must do ALL these things" as if we are operating in some kind of vacuum. The world gets more fragmentingly complex and confusing each day so the reality is that we must decide to store our waters behind various dams which, over time get built higher and higher from this simple trusting process of
chosing more and more dams behind which we place more and more of our fragmented waters (our energy).
Thanks to technology fueled by a lot of money, a worldwide mass consumer wave has fueled growth in media, cable, magazines, movies, etc. which has created a gradual process of fragmention which has gradually devalued our world. Thanks to the images set by stars, materials, money, power, etc. people have been gradually "hooked" into thinking that their inner values are somehow relative to something somewhere else: a car, money, house, title, the
thoughts of others, etc.
This course has cut very deeply into the fabric of our society and has grown worse with every year for the past 50-70 years. Kids going to school get messages and signals that the whole system is "a game". Cynicism, negativity and boredom set in.
There are fewer leaders, individuals who stand for something they can look up to. Values, meaning, purpose, get debased in this ever growing mountain of information which is being pushed our way from so many new and varied sources. The fun in life gets held hostage somewhere. Lost in a desert somewhere.
Even the example of our President has set and the resulting "wash" from attempts to assert right vs. wrong over the past 7-8 years has shouted from the rooftops to all who have witnessed these spectacles that "truth really doesn't matter much anymore."
Why is this?
I think it's because we are all caught up in the same dog eat dog jungle of the world. Too little time, too little trust and too little energy to really do much about it. We look at the examples set by our leaders and both sides of the isle and we simply throw up our hands - i.e. i'ts politics, it's all a game, always has been, always will be.
Bit by bit, the process by which millions and millions of individuals absolve themselves from believing they have any impact on anything that goes on.
Bit by bit, the fragmentation and devaluation of our society continues.
Bit by bit, we are forced to place more and more of our "waters" - our energy, time and trust - behind more and more dams that collectively claim that they "own" our time and trust.
We all seem to have conceded that SPIN has trumped TRUTH.
Even TRUTH gets placed behind some dam which is supposed to represent "us": ACLU, Pat Robertson, Republicans, Democrats, whatever.....
The point I've been trying to make in my contributions is that we are at the stage in world history where a New World has dawned. Virtual connections, instant connectivity, instant information, open access, the convergence of voice/fax/paging/celluar/video data into ONE common platform - all these things are being fueled by ONE force: FREEDOM and positive energy.
Why do I refer to "positive energy?" After all, there is so much BAD energy in the world.
My theory is that if BAD energy was driving the growth of the Internet it would have stopped dead in its tracks to serve a very limited audience catering to hate, porn, anger, etc.
You can't stop or legislate BAD energy out of existence. As far as I'm concerned BAD energy is linear, one dimensional, based on conditional quid pro quo. BAD energy takes from others, feeds off the trust and time of others. BAD energy does not radiate or multiply the way positive/GOOD energy does.
And here's why:
1) If I decide to abuse or take energy from someone, there is a limited amount of energy to take. Once I've abused that person's trust I have only two choices: 1) trap them into a ongoing abusive relationship which both parties must agree for it to continue, or 2) move on. It's very hard for an individual to extract him/herself from these situations. It requires a lot of energy, belief and faith to breakthrough to FREEDOM. Unfortunately, this is
what most of the world feeds on - the energy of others.
2) If I decide to help and serve someone - unconditionally - I set in motion a reaction which can radiate, catalyze, factor, multiply.....almost like a nuclear reaction which expands and swells forever. GOOD energy is infectious. GOOD energy radiates. GOOD energy grows on and and on and on....... For positive/good energy is NOT driven by fear, but by love. Positive/good energy is finds it fuel from the Universal Law of Abundance which says, "give
and you will get more." Positive/good energy trusts unconditionally. Positive/good energy believes that for every good act there's a radiating reaction of other good acts that will come from sources/places that have nothing to do with the person/thing the original gift was targeted for.
We have a bunch of dams out there in the world which contain our energy, our trust and our time.
The Internet is quickly breaking down these dams, presenting us with ways to share our time and trust with others - our neighbors throughout the world - in ways that can bring more meaning and value back into our world.
E-mail is like a lasar which creates holes in various dams out there. It may be just a note, a message from a friend, neighbor or colleague which is informing you about something that you and others can benefit from. E-mail speeds up the pace while expanding the limits and focus of our day to day communications. Good thoughts, good ideas, good options are being shared and people who are voting with their mouses. We are placing the waters of our energy, time and trust in new fields which can harvest new crops which can bring new value into the world. We are gradually learning to realize more and more that we are all ONE - ONE spirit, ONE people for ONE purpose: SERVICE.
SERVICE is the new frontier of this New World we are forming.
Helping and serving others.
There's a "new energy" being created. Old Dams of power and influence are losing their waters and a gradual concomitant decline in power and influence becomes the natural result.
This process should not be scarey.
This process should be liberating.
This process is ONE massive arbitrage fueled by the energy of FREEDOM.
Individuals all over the world are discovering a New World. It's no different than when our ancestors came over to the Americas.
Expect there will be fights, restrictions, limits and attempts to CONTROL this process.
All I can say is it we are living in unprecedented times.
Claim your FREEDOM. Make a difference. There hasn't been a better time in world history to join this parade. Help and serve others and watch the world turn into a completely different place.
There truly are NO LIMITS.
