(Some analysts are saying there is a glut of bandwidth).

Some analysts said that there was a glut of CPU power and the average user would never need a Pentium. Some analysts said that the radical Flat Rate for Unlimited Access model of some ISPs would never fly. Now it may end up being free. I'm sure that some analysts thought that Ford Motor would fail because no one would need all those Model-A's being produced.

IMHO, new applications will always move in to fill any temporary glut. As more people got 28k modems the web became more graphical. As more people got 56k modems the web became more "streamy". As more people get DSL and cable modems the web will become more video and MP3 oriented.

Application Service Providers will fill a lot of bandwidth. This business isn't even really feasible yet due to the slow speed of the average connection. A ton of bandwidth will be burned in the future by people with cable modems talking to each other via the internet using $49 full-color cameras and video conferencing software instead of using long distance. Even more by movies on demand over the internet. I'm sure that a whole slew of applications I can't even imagine will soon fill whatever glut of bandwidth perceived by these short-sighted analysts.

Tigerpaw,
Have you heard of a company called International Fibercom (IFCI)? I have been watching them for a while, but they are not doing too much. Maybe this bandwidth glut is part of their problem - in addition to being a little fish in a big pond. Thanks for your observation.
