Dave,

I got the impression that he was referring to EDGE. He referred to it as a program to merge TDMA & GSM, made no reference to new 3G standards. He was talking in fairly general terms, his main thrust was how fast wireless is growing and the technology is developing. It was not a forum for asking specific technical questions. He did take a question on AT&T's fixed wireless program, formerly code named "Angel". He said that originally it was too expensive to deploy, but now it was down to $750 per subscriber and would be rolled out later this year. He said it would provide 3 telephone lines and a 1M continuous data connection. He said it would be used in those areas that AT&T did not have cable access.
