We have a thorn in the side of Dell and it appears to be Merrill Lynch.

news.com

They targeted Intel for the longest time and Kurlaq was just plain poison. Now the target is Dell and long as Merill attacks we are not going anywhere. This could go on for months. No wonder why so many loose their patience.

RE: Compaq, once again, is timing major announcements to coincide with DELL's earnings day

Give me a break!! CPQ co-developed the 8-way architecture which makes this class of system possible. They usually work the launch schedules many months in advance. Do you really think the server team at CPQ knows or cares what DELL's earnings announcement date is?

Getting a little carried away here. Maybe you think there should be a news blackout for a few days ahead of DELL's earnings so no one will miss any details???

I think DELL's earnings announcement will stand on its own just fine. I also think that CPQ's 8-way announcement was dictated by things like executive schedules and had nothing to do with "trying to steal DELL's thunder" about the earnings. As far as DELL's 8-way offerings, when DELL does some 40,000 TPM benchmarks (if they do), they will have demonstrated equivalent hardware capability.
