hi carl, I gave the report an inspectional reading and it seemed that it was written by one of the staff member's children, perhaps for submission to his third period Social Studies class. I agree with Alan that this is largely a "witch hunt" by political hacks looking for something to do (legislate). Of course I have never really been a daytrader in the sense of being a direct access player looking to scalp and doing hundreds of trades a day or week, so I don't feel especially threatened by the campaign. (I love Richard Estes' term, "commission mills," for daytrading shops! Did you coin that term yourself, Richard?) I do condemn the reckless use of margin though, and think that a lot of people probably are a danger to themselves when using borrowed money, but they will blow out immediately and don't present any real, systemic risk.
