Mike, let's remember that ANTEC (ANTC) is the sales/marketing arm of Arris Interactive to the cable MSO community. So actually ANTEC does have a router for the cable guys in the form of the Arris Interactive CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System). Check the Arris site for lots of good info on the CMTS and what it does. Along with certified CMTS from Cisco, CableLabs has certified Motorola's CMTS and Arris Interactive's CMTS. There's your ANTEC cable router connection you were looking for. However, you are correct if you mean that Arris/ANTEC does not have the higher level (read backbone) high capacity router product needed to establish IP networks. It is also subjectively obvious that Cisco's reputation, market share, and technical prowess in the basic networking world provide it with a tremendous lead in the cable router race. No denying that. On the cable telephony issue, there is an awful lot of jockeying for position here. At the risk of alienating any readers here that may work for Tellabs or Arris/ANTEC or ADC, these next views are strictly my personal opinion and views of the landscape at this time. Rebuttals are welcome. I view the Arris Interactive/ANTEC Cornerstone system as the undisputed US market leader in cable telephony. Tellabs is next, but there is now a trend that they are concentrating on international business. As I understand it, they are enjoying a high level of success with Cablespan overseas especially in Europe. After Tellabs, ADC Homeworx has made good inroads with MediaOne, especially in high density metro areas like LA and Atlanta. It's higher modulation OFDM system is well suited to markets like these, although I don't consider the system to be as stable as Arris or Tellabs.
