I've regarded them in the past as a private network. I believed that this private network, being built from inception for speed, was of great value. All @HOME needed was millions of users and then the revenue would flow. I damned those slow installs for delaying my investment payoff as well as the associated validation of my correct thinking. Now it seems AT&T is perfectly capable of recreating this network with superior last mile architecture. Now there will be open access in the last mile by 2002. Now there will be other private networks. Where does this leave ATHM? Can they possibly fail to exploit the move to broadband?
