The only way he can achieve that is to partner with AOL.

I believe the statment refers to AT&T customers. This means telephone customers. Either way 12 million seems pretty optimistic, but it might happen.

Still not sure what cut (if any) ATHM will get from AT&T telephony. Anyone know?

"He also set an aggressive target of 12 million ATHM-certified AT&T customers by the
end of 2000."

The only way he can achieve that is to partner with AOL.

What exactly does "ATHM-certified" mean? If it means subscriptions like you seem to believe, @home's subscription #'s right now are tied directly to the lack of upgraded networks in some areas, and the huge shortage of qualified install technicians. We have debated price often on this thread as another problem, but the fact remains even if @home were a free service, people could not be installed fast enough to meet the 12 million mark. An agreement with AOL would make no difference in @HOME's subscription rate. Easy install cable modems would be the largest breakthrough. I suggest you do a little more reading of this thread to find out the real issues facing ATHM.
