I saw Elizabeth- (and just about anything I mention is on video- I don't get out much.) If you saw Elizabeth R on Masterpiece Theatre you will be disappointed. This is not as good a movie. It was lavish in set and costume design, but it provided nothing new, and was far too superficial. I love watching beautiful people in period costumes, but it is much better it the story is top notch, and I cannot say that was the case with Elizabeth.

I saw Shakespeare in Love with Ammo and we loved it. He had read Romeo and Juliet last year and I think it added some life to a difficult, often dusty subject. The boys also saw Hamlet and then rented Tom Stoppard's Rosenkrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. It was fun to see them recognize lines and characters, and gave me a chance to point out that THIS is what a good grounding in literature adds to one's life. It happened just the other day with Brave New World. Ammo said "Hey, there's a character in ____ (some scifi movie- I have now forgotten the name) and her name is Lenina Huxley! DO you think they took the name from Lenina in BNW and Huxley from Aldous HUxley?"

We didn't know, it sure sounded possible, and wasn't that neat that he had read enough to make the connection?
