of defeat a digital edge. The company produces and
broadcasts interactive sports programming over the
Internet, offering information not generally available
through traditional broadcasts, such as real-time data
and in-depth profiles, as well as live audio and video.
Quokka focuses on long-duration events, such as auto
racing, sailing, and marathons. It generates sales
through sponsorships. The company has rights to
cover the Olympics through 2004 (with NBC).
Originally an Australian software developer called
Ozware Developments, Quokka moved to the US in
1996. Investors include affiliates of Media Technology
Ventures (11%); MediaOne (10%); and Intel (9%).
