I believe this kind of thing will be par for the course before long.

flatsville, these types of problems are occurring NOW, as Cory points out. I know this because I didn't get paid for over 3 months because of a slow SAP installation. My client couldn't pay my invoices for 3 1/2 months when they converted to SAP. They thought that it would be completed in 1 - 2 months and notified contractors that some payments may be delayed because of the conversion.

Because I have some familiarity with an SAP installation, I prepared for 3 - 4 months of no income. After 3 months, I became concerned because every time that I asked Accounts Payable when I would be paid, I got the same answer -- "We don't know".

Although the World Bank, and my client, both claim that it is NOT Y2K related, their old system was NOT Y2K ready and was not scheduled for remediation. It was an "all or nothing" approach to solving their Y2K problem. If the SAP installation failed, there was no fallback system.

I suspect that you are correct, that these types of problems will be occurring more frequently. I just not sure if we will ever hear about these problems.

B.K.
