I have asked SanDisk to comment on this issue but haven't heard from them yet. About two years ago, at the time Intel announced its discovery that would double flash memory capacity, I spoke with an engineer at SNDK. He said that the Intel flash memory would not work in digital cameras because it had a read/write speed that was too slow. But he also said that Intel and SNDK had cross licensing agreements so that Intel could make products without paying royalties, just as SNDK could incorporate certain Intel designs without paying royalties. What I'm not clear about is whether this latest Intel announcement means Intel will be supplying faster flash memories to the digital camera market.
