And the war of words go on........................SEBL won the round today based on stock price action!!! Thursday August 12 2:52 PM ET Oracle Says Still Running Ads That Siebel Objected To SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Oracle Corp. (Nasdaq:ORCL - news), which is waging a pitched battle with rival Siebel Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:SEBL - news) in the market for customer relationship management software, has not pulled advertisements that Siebel claimed Oracle had. The spat initially began several months ago when Siebel lawyers had a letter hand-delivered to Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison's office. It accused Oracle of illegal marketing and making false claims. Thomas Siebel, chairman and founder of Siebel, earlier told Reuters that Oracle had ''stopped the mudslinging ads that were illegal.'' Not so, said Oracle. ''We have not pulled back from our ads,'' said Mark Barrenechea, head of Oracle's customer relationship management software business. ''We continue to believe in our positioning.'' One Oracle ad claims that Oracle CRM software is ''100 percent'' Internet-based and is the only CRM software that is. Another claims that it is not possible to run a true e-business using so-called client-server technology. Barrenechea said the ads in question are still running and will continue to appear. They will be in such publications as Business Week, CIO Magazine and trade publications. CRM software, which helps companies manage and streamline sales leads, marketing, customer service, call center and sales force functions, is one of the fastest growing parts of the software industry. According to Boston-based AMR Research, the CRM market is forecast to grow to $16.8 billion in 2003 from $2.9 billion this year.
