Greg: ML should have adopted more of a DELL-like model and learned to aggressively use the net to go DIRECT to their customers. Look how Schwab has gained on ML in a MAJOR way. Compare the appreciation in Market value between the firms for the last 3-4 years <G>.

Best Regards,

Scott

hey thread, for what my advice is worth...i encourage everyone to stay the course...once everyone looks around and realizes that steve fortuna is a NEW merrill analyst who does not necessarily have a CLUE...dell will recover and so will the others...dell is already beaten down and there is no reason for it to drop further unless they don't meet earnings expectations.

this analyst says pc prices will decline at increasing rates, faster than increases in demand, but i have heard nothing about an analysis that includes a look at MARGINS...price declines, as you know, mean very little without a look at their effect on margins.

besides, if a pessimist like NILES is now relatively bullish on DELL, it's highly unlikely that he missed this data. i hope no one sells out of fear based on merrill lynch reports of any sort...i have never found them to be very accurate anyway (ala Kurlak...all muscle, little brains)...keep the faith...

cheers, GRANOLA
