Birch Mountain Resources Ltd - Kaiser says buy in spite of 'Prairie Gold' play Birch Mountain Resources Ltd BMD Shares issued 23,267,496 1998-12-30 close $0.22 Wednesday Dec 30 1998 John Kaiser, writing in his annual guide of stock recommendations for 1999 in the Dec. 11, 1998 Bottom-Fishing Report, says Birch Mountain Resources is a medium-priority buy at 30 cents. Mr. Kaiser says Birch Mountain was a 1995 junior capital pool whose major transaction was acquiring a property portfolio in Alberta from insiders. The story was carbonate rocks that hosted gold and platinum group metals. The letter writer says Robert Friedland bought into the story in 1996 and helped out with an Indonesian property. The stock ran to $8 in January 1996. To date, Birch Mountain has spent over $12-million on its controversial "Prairie Gold" model and plans more drilling this winter. Birch Mountain also has diamond-potential properties under option to Lytton.
