Well, assuming all internet connections are free in the future, whether DSL, cable, phone, whatever, then I think AOL will offer free service. And if they do, then they will keep adding members at an even faster pace. In addition, many of the marginal players will get squeezed out, and AOL will take some of those customers. So they'll have twice as many customers, and several times as much ad and ecommerce revenue. If you haven't noticed, they are pretty good at marketing. I wouldn't worry too much about them.

But, I doubt that all internet connections are going to be free in the near future. Gotta run.
