Gene, How profitable is Solaris for Sun - do you happen to have any numbers on that ? After all the alpha chip did claim to support NT/Ultrix AND VMS - it was supposed to be a truely open platform, except that DEC never could market anything properly....

Also, shops that might have considered NT may now get Linux (for free?) Linux does not compete with Solaris because Linux runs mainly on Intel boxes. --Olu E.
