ynot:

Well, let's think back to when you started your first job or any job that you weren't familiar with. How confident were you in the beginning compared to 1 or 2 years later?

With regards to martial arts. I was an instructor in the 70's and 80's, (not bragging). I found there was a major difference between a student's confidence from practicing in the dojo to facing an actual opponent at a tournament which is a controlled environment. The more you entered the more you learn, the more the emotions subsided due to an increase of confidence which carries over to the street environment.

For me, the more repetition the less impulsive I become.
